Technical Current

Maximum current ratings in the product section are taken directly from actual testing, per IEC 60512-3, Test 5a and Test 5b.

Current ratings reflect all contacts in a given connector carrying the rated current.

This allows some contacts in a connector to reliably carry more than the rated current, so long as the total current through all contacts does not result in an internal connector temperature increase above ambient greater than permitted (20°C or 40°C).
